Spring?

I say that with a question mark because there are rumblings of snow on Saturday.  I'm really hoping for NOT...for one thing that is Prom day.  For another thing it's going to be April 30th.  Today was beautiful though, mid 60's and sunny!  The kids were outside all day playing and riding bikes.  They've had a 4 day weekend and Grace has been playing with our neighbor Madeline practically every minute, they are really good little buddies!

Yikes!  Ben has 4 legs :).

Swagbucks

Does anyone do this?  All you have to do is download the search bar and every time you search for something you can earn points.  I've gotten several Amazon $5 gift cards so far.  Pretty easy just to search for stuff!  If you want to start earning Swagbucks, just click on the banner over on the right
----->>>>>.  Simple!!

Our snow is almost gone, yay!!!!!!!  There are still a few big piles here and there, but I think we've turned the corner to spring.  The kids were outside all afternoon after school, riding bikes and playing.  So nice!  Our yard is full of gross snow mold though....it's on top of the grass and is moldy looking, yuk.

Not looking forward to the government shut down.  Really hoping they can come to some sort of solution so we don't miss our next paycheck.  Stressful is the word I've been throwing about.

No soccer games this weekend either...too chilly and the fields are still in terrible shape.  They're hoping for an April 19th start to the season.  We'll see!

Ankeny Prom 2011

Tyler went to Rachel's prom tonight!  They both looked very nice.  They took a limo with some friends and went out to eat, then to the Val-Air Ballroom for the dance, then back to AHS for After-Prom, then to Rachel's house where Rachel's parents are making everyone breakfast :).  We are heading back to ND bright and early, so poor Tyler will have to sleep in the car on the way home.

And I'm moving.  Soon.  Somewhere that's not here.  8 inches of snow.

flower girls and leprachauns

Grace tried on her flower girl dress for Tabitha's wedding in June, it's really cute!

She couldn't be more excited either!

And our little leprachaun Matt O'Kinney is the Wachter Middle School St. Patrick's Day dress up champion for the second year in a row!  He's so weird :).  He won a bag of Jolly Ranchers.

40's!

Yes, we've made it into the 40's here in good ole' ND!  Finally, out of the single digits.  It was nice to get outside a little today, we took the dogs for a walk and the kids played for awhile.  Dodging huge muddy puddles of melty sludge isn't much fun, but with the sun and nice temps we didn't really mind.  We still have tons of snow.  The pic above shows the drifts by the driveway, which are about 3 feet high.  You can also see the huge lake of water at the end of the driveway from melting stuff....it should be interesting to see when it all melts!

We found where our second snow shovel went:

I see grass!!!  Very exciting!

Blizzard

We had a nasty blizzard yesterday.  It's March, right?  Snow, freezing rain, torrential winds, you name it.  We couldn't even see the mailbox across the street.  Apparently the mall even closed at 5:00 pm, which never, ever happens.  Crazy!

Grace and I went to the mall today for something to do.  We got a new Children's Place so we had to check it out. LOVE!  We wandered around Target and got a pretzel too :).

The rest of the gang has been hanging out in their jammies all weekend.  We all really, really need spring!  Tyler and Ben (the Pokemon nerds) played their DS's most of the day.  Matt has been at his friend Ty's for a couple of nights.

I gave Lucy a little clip so I can take her to Pet Smart for a real clip.  I'm so embarrassed at how matted and shaggy she is that I had to clip some stuff off.  She's such a little brat...she'll stand outside and stare at me when I tell her to come in.  It's like a major stand-off, and unfortunately for her, I usually win :).
I'm signing Grace up for cheerleading.  They get to cheer for the Bismarck Midget Footbal League kids, it runs August-October.  I hope she'll do it, she says she wants to but when it comes to getting up in front of people she usually flakes out.  I think she'll have fun though!  They get real uniforms and everything!

Ben joined a Guitar Club that meets on Thursdays after school for an hour.  There were 25 slots and 120 kids applied....Ben's name got drawn so he got in!  He likes it so far, I have my fingers crossed that music will be his 'thing'.

That's about it from here!  Melt snow, melt!  PLEASE melt!  Not sure the Peterson kids can handle much more of this North Dakota winter...Joel and I are ready to call it quits.
